Be scared and do it anyway

Hello everyone. Happy Tuesday! Is the sun shining where you are? It has been beautiful in Devon , which always puts me in such a positive mood and makes me believe that I can achieve anything. There is something so empowering about the sunshine don't you think? Lets hope that this is the first sign of summer- I could definitely get used to the warmer days and longer evenings.

Instagram lives

Did you happen to catch my first live interview on Instagram? If not, you can catch up here:

I chatted with Natasha Cole to kick off my mini series of lives. My 'women supporting women' blog post had such a great response that I felt it only right to actually have some face to face conversation. Starting a business is daunting at the best of times but in the creative industry?? Wow. It is so competitive and saturated that it can be really difficult to stand out, which if allowed can become demoralising. By speaking to other women who are ahead of us or travelling a similar journey, it not only gives hope but we start to develop a little network of encouragement, which is always helpful, am I right?

I have to admit, I was so nervous to take to IG lives!! I would say I am a fairly articulate person but the idea of being seen is something which has scared me for years!!! I am absolutely an extroverted introvert. I can turn on the conversation, whilst my stomach is tied in knots! Part of my personal development and growing in confidence is to "Be scared and do it anyway". What is the worst thing that could happen? I could become tongue tied and look like a deer in headlights? Those things probably have happened but honestly I needn't have been nervous!

The conversation

Natasha was so lovely and easy to chat to. My aim for this mini series of IG lives is for those checking in to feel like they are part of a conversation with their mates. It honestly felt like just that. Natasha's excitement for what she is doing is infectious. I related to many of the things she said- such as feeling nervous when manning her first stall and wanting to have professional packaging but starting where her budget will allow.

She came with some practical tips and told everyone watching that her business has evolved and not necessarily followed the initial plan she had for Prints by Natasha Cole. It is her background and love for working with children which has seen her launch some illustrative Childrens clothing and I am so excited to see what is next for her.

I have some equally lovely women still to speak to and I will bring you a little synopsis of our chats. If you have any questions which you would like me to ask my guests, please do let me know!

If you fancy watching live, you can join me this Thursday 12th May @ 12pm.

See you next time,

lots of Love

Mayajoy x
